Serum Solutions for Healthy Skin

Have you ever wondered about adding a serum to your home care regimen, but you don’t know which one to choose, or how to use it?

Serums are made with a consistency somewhere between a toner and a gel solution. They are generally lightweight liquid formulas that contain concentrated amounts of active ingredients. After cleansing in the morning or evening, serums are applied after toner (if you use one) and absorb quickly into the skin, before your moisturizer step. Oilier skin types may prefer to use a lightly hydrating serum product and skip moisturizing lotion, especially in the warmer summer months. Drier skin types may appreciate the moisturizing boost that a humectant serum offers, when applied under a day or night cream.

I admit I wasn’t a big fan of serums when I was first introduced to esthetics 13 years ago. I thought they were too watery and too drippy, and trying to get all the solution onto my face before it slid through my fingers was tricky. It took me awhile, but I’ve come around to loving serums for the important benefits they add to a well-rounded home care regimen. I offer a variety of different serums at Face Perfection to suit an assortment of unique skin conditions. I also endorse using Epionce or Le Mieux serums for enhanced results with home derma rolling (How-To Video Here).

Here is a handy chart to help you start a conversation with me about which serum is best suited for you:
