How-To: Easy Sunday Night Facial

Whenever I return from a long weekend away from home, the first thing I want to do after showering is give my face a little extra attention. I like to call this my Sunday Night Facial.

While it doesn’t take the place of having a professional treatment, this facial is something that is nice to do for yourself in between your regular in-office visits with your favorite esthetician.

Have all the products you will need ready to go. I use a couple of different tools: either a clean facial sponge or soft washcloth, and also a very gentle scrubbing brush (not all brushes are the same! A Clarisonic brush is also a good option).

Step 1. Start by cleansing your face with your normal cleanser. I prefer Epionce Lytic Gel Cleanser for my oily skin. I also recommend Epionce Gentle Foaming Cleanser (for all skin types) or Milky Lotion Cleanser (for drier, sensitive skin types).

Step 2. Next, use a lightly exfoliating cleanser, either something with lightly exfoliating beads (like Face Reality’s Silica Scrub) or a foaming enzyme cleanser (GloTherapeutics Cytoluxe Cleanser or EltaMD Foaming Facial Cleanser). Apply to your clean, wet skin and use your gentle scrubbing brush to cover your entire face. Try not to over-scrub, or use too much pressure with the brush.

Step 3. After rinsing, pat your skin dry and apply a mask appropriate for your skin type. I love Epionce Enriched Firming Mask for so many reasons: it soothes and hydrates my skin, and also has great antibacterial action to take care of any blemishes that may be lurking underneath the surface.

Step 4. Remove the mask after about 10 to 20 minutes and apply your favorite serum product. Depending on the day and how my skin is feeling/looking, I prefer Le Mieux’s Retinol Serum (fantastic for anti-aging benefit) or Epionce Lytic Tx (to calm redness and smooth my skin texture).

Step 5. Finish with a barrier repairing moisturizer such as Epionce Renewal Facial Lotion or Renewal Facial Cream.

And that’s all there is to it! It’s a quick and easy Sunday Night Facial that will leave your skin glowing, soft and smooth for Monday morning. I recommend trying it at home once a week for best benefit.

All products mentioned, including facial sponge and soft washcloth, are available for purchase at Face Perfection.
